Transformational Trucking
RMI convened experts throughout the trucking industry on April 14-16 in Denver, CO, with the goal of profitably doubling (at least) the efficiency of the sector, both in terms of gallons of fuel used and the time and resources consumed to deliver materials and goods across the nation.

After two and a half days of intense discussion, collaboration, and arguments (see the news page), the charrette ultimately converged on the intersection of technology, information, and policy. Within the trucking industry, these three areas (offering massive challenges in and of themselves) are at odds with one another, and addressing their misalignments has become the starting point for transformational change.
Moving forward, the group will pursue two major initiatives:
1. The North American Coucil for Freight Efficiency: A Technology Value Assessment, Demonstration, and Certification Program; and
2. A Call to Action: Developing National Freight Strategy--creating a united front for the industry stakeholders to connect with the policy makers on a trucking efficiency agenda.
These projects are in the process of seeking funding champions and organizational framework.
